Client Profile and Project Brief
A large NHS Hospital Trust in the North of England required an ID card management system to
produce ID cards for all 16,000 staff and contractors. In addition, the same system had to keep
track of Car Park permits. The Trust also required the card production system's database to
be centrally stored so that many other third party applications could access and exchange the data
gather during the card issuing process.
The Solution
TSSI was chosen over other providers as the enVisionPro system runs on a centralised SQL Server,
thus allowing straightforward interfacing with other Hospital systems. This "central database"
approach allows Security department staff, who are responsible for all aspects of ID throughout the
trust, to view the central enVisionPro database from any of 6 separate hospital sites scattered
across the city.
The Business Benefits
Since introducing the centralised card production and central database, the Trust has recognised
the efficiency savings of this type of system. Card production is centralised
at a single site, thus making production both cost-effective and efficient. Plans
for the future evolution of this enVisionPro system, which has been in use at the NHS
Trust since the early 1990's, include the use of contactless smartcards. For more information
