Verid+ fingerprint units - national ID cards
Client Profile and Project Brief
The Ministry of Immigration in a West African country wanted to keep track of the
identity of all foreign nationals working in the country. They also wanted to keep track of
the movements of expatriate workers while entering and exiting the Immigration Gateways (e.g.
airports, etc).
The Solution
TSSI recommended the use of enVisionPro identity management system in conjunction with Verid+
units to issue ID Cards to all qualifying people. Each Card contains a photo, and basic cardholder
details. In addition, the cardholder's fingerprint template is enrolled at the point of card
production, and printed on the back of the card in 2-D barcode format with other personal
details. The card is then "swiped" into the system each time it is presented at an Immigration
'Gateway' post.
The Business Benefits
As well as monitoring the expatriate community, and keeping track of all expatriate movements in
and out of the country, Immigration officials (carrying portable Verid+ fingerprint recognition
units) can verify the person's credentials by "swiping" the card into the portable Verid+ unit
while asking the cardholder to present his or her finger for verification. In addition, the
details such as passport number, home address, etc are carried in the 2D barcode and when swiped
displayed on the Verid+ unit.
