Verid+ fingerprint units - protecting Cash in Transit
Client Profile and Project Brief
A large Cash-in-Transit (CiT) operator in the U.K. transports in excess of £1 billion in cash
per day across the UK. The company needed to ensure that only specific members of their authorised
staff were able to actually drive the armoured CiT vehicles, especially as these vehicles perform
up to one hundred drop off/pickup operations per day.
The Solution
TSSI recommended the use of Verid+ fingerprint units, mounted on each specialist armoured
CiT vehicle, to control access and actual movement of the vehicle. The Verid+ unit is connected to
the Vehicle Management System, and each time the Vehicle stops, it is then immobilised until
the Verid+ unit has verified the fingerprint of both members of staff designated to drive
that vehicle.
The Business Benefits
The benefits of preventing a vehicle full of cash from being driven off by unauthorised
personnel are self-evident. Reliability is the highest priority - there are well over one thousand
vehicles operating across the U.K. As Verid+ verifies the crew after each drop-off/pick-up stop,
these units are reliably performing almost 1.5 million "verification" transactions
per week
.
