how software licensing works
A TSSI Software licence is specific to a particular PC. When a TSSI software product is
installed and run, a message is displayed showing the fact that the product is unlicensed, and
showing a window which contains fields for you to enter User Name, Company Name, and Expiry date.
The window also shows a 16 character "Computer ID" value, specific to the actual PC on which the
software is installed.
To get a licence contact the
TSSI helpdesk with the values for each of these
fields (for a permanent licence, enter a date a long way into the future, e.g. "31/12/2099"). TSSI
will respond with a new 16 character "Licence String" value. Enter this into the "Licence String"
field, click on the "Register" button, and the product is now licensed.
Note: the specific "Computer ID" is derived from a number of factors concerning the actual
PC; these include the hard disk drive, the operating system installation, and the network domain
details. If any of these change (e.g. domain name changes), the licence will cease to
function, as the "Computer ID" value will have changed. If this is the case, contact
the
TSSI helpdesk for assistance and include details
of any changes made.
