Biometric Bid Specifications
This resource is designed to assist in preparing a Bid Specification for a Biometric unit to be
deployed on specific high-security doors or other entrances. These doors may currently be
standalone doors with standard lock protection (e.g. key, etc) or may be already protected by an
existing Access Control system.

Capacity
- the unit must be capable of storing up to 3600 personal biometrics
- the unit must be capable of logging up to 16,000 biometric transactions
Template Size
- the Biometric template must be of minimum size to permit storage on a magnetic stripe card
(i.e. less than 100 characters)
Integration
- the Biometric unit must be able to integrate with an existing Access control system, offering a
Biometric check before passing the card number or PIN unchaned on to the Access control system
if Biometric validated OK.
Enrolment speed
- the biometric units must be able to enrol users within 1 minute.
Verification speed
- the biometric units must be able to verfiy a user's identity within 1 second.
Transaction logging
- an option to record all transactions peformed at the unit for later analysis must be
available.
Communications
- the unit must permit communications with other units or a host system (e.g. Access control) via
RS485 or TCP/IP.
